Step 1 Download “AVID Certification Report and Self-Study Continuum”

We recommend that you capture your AVID Essential information and evidence on the paper titled 2010-2011 AVID Certification Report and Self-Study Continuum (ISS/CSS document) before you enter it online. If you haven’t received the paper document, you can download it here.

Step 2 Collect certification information on paper form

Collecting certification information should be a team effort!  Get your AVID Site Team involved!

Step 3 Enter the information online

  1. On the MyAVID home page, click on the link titled “AVID Certification” under MyAVID Tools. The new screen will read “AVID Certification System” at the top of the page.

  2. In the left margin, click on “Add/Edit/View Current Data”. The system will walk you through to access your form. When prompted to select a phase, be sure to choose "Initial Self-Study".

  3. If this is the first time you access the ISS form, the system will display the school’s information and then prompt you to select the grade levels taught at your school. (If this not your first time, proceed to Step 4.)

First, verify that the site team information is correct. If the information is correct, click on Accept School Information at the bottom of the page to move to the next screen. To edit the school’s information, click on Edit School Information at the bottom of the page and modify the school information as needed. Once that is complete, click the Exit link at the bottom of the page to return to the school’s information page. Click the Accept School Information link to continue the ISS process.

Next, check the grade levels in your AVID elective program and whether or not your school has a high school exit exam. Click Continue to move to the next screen.

  4. The system will then open to the AVID Essential No. 1 Essential page. Select the appropriate possible evidence sources and levels for each indicator and type in the particular strengths and aspects you have room for growth for each AVID Essential. After you complete an AVID Essential, be sure to click on the “Save and Continue” button at the bottom of the page.

Tip: To skip to a specific essential, simply click on any of the AVID Essential links in the left margin.

  5. On the Certification Summary Page, when you have finished filling out all of the AVID Essentials, review the information before clicking Submit to Director.
